Thank you PES students and families for your generous support of our Terry Fox Run. Our school raised just over $10,000- enough for Mr. McEntee to shave his beard!

Hard to believe we are going into our last week of September. We will have a busy week with ORANGE shirt day and Terry Fox run on Thurs. Sept. 28.
Orange Shirt Day is an opportunity for First Nations, local governments, schools and communities to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and hope for generations of children to come. Our school will participate in a school wide assembly at 9 am on Thurs. Our Terry Fox run will begin after lunch on Thurs. Thank you for your continued donations to the Terry Fox Cancer research association. Students have NO SCHOOL on Friday Sept. 29 as the staff participates in professional development activities. Any questions or concerns can be directed to your child's home room teacher. Enjoy the first full week of Autumn. Mrs. Abt, Mrs. Allen, Mrs. Wessner We had another productive week in grade two!
We enjoyed a few funny stories by the very popular author and illustrator David Shannon. In math we began working on our patterning concepts and reviewing place values and representation of the teen numbers (which is sometimes tricky!) The students are building their stamina in reading to self and word work centers. Keep up the great effort grade twos! In science we've done a few interesting experiments to introduce the three types of matter - and specifically learning about how the movement and behavior of particles allows liquids to flow. You can look around home for ways to point out and observe different types of liquids. To see a few photos of our activities, look under the tab "more" and see our photo album. Please keep an eye on the weather forecasts in the weeks ahead. It can be hard to choose the right clothing. Often having your child wear a couple of layers is a good way to go so that he/she can adjust as the day goes on. We hope that everyone is looking forward to our annual Terry Fox Run. This special event will be held the afternoon of Thursday, September 28 and we hope that many families and friends will be able to join us to walk/jog. Our school has a wonderful tradition of kindness and generosity towards this event and we hope to be able to make another great contribution to the Terry Fox legacy this year! Students enjoyed a wonderful first week of grade two. We were impressed with their efforts and ability to remember daily 5 routines. Students will enjoy music, gym, library and all core subjects as we begin our second week of classes. Friday Sept. 15 is a staff collaboration day, no school for students.
